A Pizza Recipe from Italy, a Restaurant in Minneapolis
Famous for its old world flavor in every pizza, the Broadway Pizza® recipe has its origins in Italy. When John Spallacci arrived in Minneapolis from Gorviano Valli, Italy, he brought a special pizza recipe with him. From that humble beginning, Broadway Pizza® grew and flourished throughout the Twin Cities.
North Minneapolis: Pizza in the Neighborhood
In 1961, Eddie Peck bought Spallacci’s operation, along with his fabulous recipe. Continuing the pizza tradition, along with his wife Dorothy and mother Mamie in his north Minneapolis neighborhood restaurant and bar, Eddie made sausage from scratch, while Mamie simmered special sauces and kneaded fresh dough for delicious homemade pizza. Eddie’s pizzas quickly became the neighborhood favorite with standing room only at the old Broadway Pizza®.
A Landmark Pizza Restaurant on the Tracks of History
When Eddie had to move his pizza restaurant due to I-94 construction, he stayed in the north Minneapolis neighborhood that made his pizza famous. Purchasing land in the heart of the railroad activity that drove north Minneapolis growth, Eddie honored the neighborhood and people at the heart of his pizza restaurant’s success by choosing a railroad theme for his new Broadway Pizza®. Today, our landmark pizza restaurant overlooks the Mississippi River on property crossed by SOO Line and Burlington Northern tracks.

Now Broadway Pizza® caters to many Twin Cities’ neighborhoods, serving our famous award-winning pizza as well as many other selections including burgers, hoagies, appetizers, chicken sandwiches, salads, pasta, and desserts.
